Fast Food, What is it?

fastfoodAlmost all of us have at one time or another gone to the Fast Food Restaurants and ordered up the delicious hamburgers, fries, a coke etc. etc. etc. Some of us more than others, of course. What started in the 50s as just a “hamburger stand” now includes such a wide variety of foods as breakfast with eggs and ham, French toast, Mexican food, chicken & fish sandwiches, baked potatoes, potato wedges with cheddar and bacon, etc., etc., etc.

What do they all have in common? They are high in calories; saturated fat and they’re all processed.

Even the salad dressing, can have up to 6 grams of saturated fat while the total fat content is 35 grams. Hamburgers have up to 49 grams of fat and I didn’t take into account the jumbo double and triple burgers that are now available. I could go on and on, but I think you get the point.

If you have any questions, you can ask any of your favorite Fast Food restaurants for a copy of their “Nutritional Guide”. It lists such things as calories, fats, cholesterol, sodium (salt), sugar, carbohydrates, protein, etc. Yes, there is even sugar in the breakfast sausage and bun.

“We have these weapons of mass destruction on every street corner, and they’re called donuts, cheeseburgers, French fries, potato chips, junk food. Our kids are living on a junk food diet.”   – Joel Fuhrman, M.D.

What can you do?

Okay, well, I could say, not a great place to eat, but I know that you will stop by there when you are hungry and want something fast to eat, and okay, and because you LIKE it. (Of course, the chemicals they put into the fast foods to make you like it is another story….)

So, as I said on the Home Page of this site, at least you could take the nutritional supplements to make up for the nutritional deficiencies of eating this fare and to balance out the not so good things that you eat.

Saturated Fats:

Yes, these have to be balanced with the good fats. Your body needs both Omega 6 essential fatty acids and Omega 3 essential fatty acids. We have an article for you to read so you understand this: Essential Fatty Acids. Taking Omega 3 oil caps or Omega bars can help balance this. Can’t promise you will lose weight with all the additional fat you get from fast food restaurants but….. Read our article.

Sugar

Salt

Nutritional Deficiencies

If you are going to eat at Fast Food Restaurants, you are not going to get all the vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids, that your body needs. There are forty nutrients that cannot be made in the body. They are essential fatty acid, 15 vitamins, 14 minerals, and 10 amino acids. Collectively these forty nutrients are spoken of as the body’s requirements. From these our bodies synthesize an estimated 10,000 different compounds essential to the maintenance of health. All the forty nutrients work together. Therefore, the lack of any one might result in the underproduction of hundreds of these essential compounds. Probably no one nutrient is ever totally lacking from an otherwise adequate diet, but partial simultaneous deficiencies of many nutrients is common.

So what can be done to help, we need to supplement our diets with all the essential nutrients when we eat processed foods and especially when we eat at fast food restaurants.

RECOMMNEDED:

We suggest a good balanced whole food vitamin that will supplement what is missing in this type of diet. – Go to this site –Daily Nutrition called the Life Support Formula
